Solar energy CEO and entrepreneur John Woolard, MBA 97, will headline the All-Alumni Conference April 28 at the Haas School.
In his opening keynote address, titled "Decarbonizing Our Power Supply: Addressing Energy and Growth Challenges in a Carbon Constrained World," Woolard will discuss the global challenges of growing energy needs and the future of renewable energy.
As the president and CEO of BrightSource Energy, Woolard brings more than two decades of experience in the energy technology sector. BrightSource, a developer of utility-scale solar power plants, is currently building the largest solar power plant in the world under construction, in the Mojave Desert.
Dean Rich Lyons will open the conference with a brief school update and his perspective on the unique culture and leadership style of Berkeley-Haas.
The morning will continue with four concurrent sessions on designing service experiences, creative problem-solving, strategic philanthropy, and career management. Four afternoon sessions will cover social networks, the Euro crisis, leadership presentation skills, and LinkedIn for job seekers.
Attendees will reconvene at 3 p.m. for a session on “Path-Bending Leadership,” in which Dean Rich Lyons will moderate a panel discussion about responsible leadership and how Berkeley-Haas alumni are transforming the companies they lead.
The conference is open to students, staff, faculty, and all Haas School alumni. To register, visit haas.berkeley.edu/alumni/conference. Breakfast, lunch, and parking will be provided.
