Rain Fails to Dampen Spirits at Haaski Open

Despite unseasonable rain, more than 130 Haas alumni, faculty, and friends attended the eighth annual Haaski Open Golf Tournament on May 10 and raised $72,000 for the school.

The tournament at the Claremont Country Club in Oakland featured live and silent auctions and corporate and individual sponsors. During the reception, Tom Broderick, BS 73, MBA 74, won the Volunteer of the Year Award for his exceptional participation in the tournament over many years, including serving on the Haaski Planning Committee, generous sponsorship, and auction donations. Tournament players included Professor Emeritus and Nobel Prize winner Oliver Williamson.

Because of the unusual rain – the first in the event's eight-year history — there were no tournament winners. Despite the rain, the majority of the players stayed for the reception and auction, demonstrating their enthusiastic and loyal support for Haas.
