Former Argentine Minister of Economy Martin Lousteau will keynote the Haas School’s first-ever Latin American Business Conference from 12:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. April 12 in the Wells Fargo Room.
Fernando Malenchini, a renowned architect, entrepreneur, and investor in Latin America, will be the second keynote speaker.
The conference also will feature panels on the increasing importance of the Hispanic market in the US and the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Latin America. The conference concludes with a wine tasting and networking event.
Lousteau, at the age of 37, was the youngest person in 50 years to serve as minister of economy and production of Argentina, a position he held from December 2007 until April 2008. Lousteau previously served as CEO of the Bank of the Province of Buenos Aires. He also served Buenos Aires Province as minister of production and as chief of the cabinet.
In the private sector, Lousteau was a counselor for the Central Bank of Argentina and then moved to consulting firm APL Economia, where he was head economist and then director.
The inaugural conference is being organized by the Haas School’s Latin American and Hispanic Business Association (LAHBA), which aims to unite students with a shared interest in Latin America and the Hispanic world. The conference co-chairs are Carlos Orellana, MBA/MPH 10, from San Salvador, El Salvador; Pedro Kudrnac, MBA 10, from Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Gonzalo Perez-Salazar, MBA 10, from Mexico City, Mexico.
