Larry Tessler, of Moraga, Calif., writes, “With a retail career that spanned some 34 years, I can honestly say I enjoyed virtually every working day. I’m especially grateful for those who mentored me and for those I had the privilege of mentoring over the years as I worked for local and national retail stores as well as starting and operating my own small business. “My primary volunteer duty was in mentoring some 2,000 new or existing small businesspeople. My wife, who was an extensive volunteer and Cal grad, and I took many vacations to countries around the world in addition to traveling through most of the U.S.”

Carl Jacobs, of Woodland Hills, Calif., shares, “I moved back to Woodland Hills, bought a home, and remodeled it. I will redo some of the landscaping when it gets cooler, a prominent feature of which will be a Japanese garden with a working waterfall. Having been diagnosed with high-risk aggressive prostate cancer, over nine on a scale of 10, I completed treatment, which appears to have been successful. I am continuing drug medication, which is a bit debilitating, but it did not stop me from enjoying a 23-day trip to England and Wales. “On another note, I completed a year as co-president of the BHAN-LA chapter.”
