Health Care Conference Moves to San Francisco, Feb. 24

For the first time in its six-year history, the student-run Business of Health Care Conference will be held in downtown San Francisco this year, at the Westin San Francisco Market Street, on Feb. 24.

“San Francisco is known throughout the world as a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation," says Sameera Chilakapati, MBA 12, who is co-chairing the conference with Jeff Williamson, MBA 12. "This spirit is reflected in this year’s conference theme, 'Entrepreneurial Solutions to Health Care Challenges.' The conference is a terrific forum for bringing together the kinds of diverse players that must support changing the status quo in the evolving health care industry.”

The keynote speaker will be Mike Buck, president of Abbott Ventures, a subsidiary of Abbott that invests in companies with technologies and products of strategic interest to the company.

Six panels will address such topics as health care startups, social innovations in global health care, and the role of mobile and Web-based technologies in health and wellness.

Sponsors include Abbott, McKesson, Gilead, Genentech, and ZS Associates.

The conference runs 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets cost between $35 for students and $130 for professionals. Early-bird rates are available until Feb. 10. For more information, visit HaasHealthCareConference.org.
