Haas’ California Management Review Teams Up with UC Press

The Haas School is joining forces with University of California Press Journals + Digital Publishing to publish the school’s flagship, peer-reviewed journal, California Management Review (CMR), beginning in November 2011.

The partnership is an example of UC Berkeley’s Operational Excellence program. Operational Excellence seeks to improve UC Berkeley’s operational effectiveness and reduce the costs of campus operations by pooling expertise and services so that the campus can direct the maximum level of resources to its core mission of teaching, research, and public service.

“UC Press offers extensive market reach and digital publishing expertise that will allow California Management Review to focus even more on its editorial excellence,” said Haas School Dean Rich Lyons. “It’s the best of both worlds.”

Under the agreement, UC Press will be responsible for all of CMR's business operations, including production, subscriptions, permissions, and reprints. Beginning in November 2011, CMR will be available both in print and online through UC Press on JSTOR’s innovative online hosting platform.

"We are very excited about this partnership, especially because it will make the journal's content much more visible and accessible to managers, faculty, and students," says Haas Professor David Vogel, editor of CMR since 1982. "It represents an important new chapter in CMR's more than half century of publication."

Published quarterly, CMR is a top-ranked management journal that serves as an important bridge of communication between those who study management and those who practice it. Its contributors include management consultants, policy makers, and senior executives as well as business school faculty from across the nation and abroad.
