Haas Among Top Schools for Teaching Social and Environmental Impact

The Berkeley Full-time MBA Program ranked #10 worldwide and #8 among U.S. business schools in terms of teaching social and environmental impact, according to the Aspen Institute’s Beyond Grey Pinstripes ranking published on Sept. 21.

The ranking aims to recognize MBA programs that integrate the social, environmental, and economic realities of business into management teaching and research. Haas ranked #6 overall in the previous ranking, published in 2009.

The ranking is based on data submitted by participating schools.

Haas ranked #10 worldwide and #6 among U.S, schools in faculty research, which counts 25 percent toward the ranking and counts the number of scholarly articles published in peer-reviewed business journals that contain some degree of social, environmental, or ethical content. The faculty research metric is not adjusted for the size of a school’s faculty.

A related ranking on how well MBA programs teach corporate social responsibility is published by the Financial Times, where Haas ranked #2 worldwide in this area in 2011.
