Abby Scott, executive director of MBA Career Services, was honored with a Chancellor's Outstanding Staff Award April 22 for her valuable contributions to Haas and UC Berkeley.
Scott received her award — one of the highest awards for staff at Berkeley — during a ceremony at the International House. She received a gold bear pin, a beautiful wood-carved bear, and a framed certificate with a photo (here) with Chancellor Robert Birgeneau.
"Abby is truly deserving of this award as she not only excels in her current role but also goes above and beyond her assigned duties in service to the Haas School and UC Berkeley," says COO Jennifer Chizuk.
Scott was honored for her superb leadership qualities and innovative mindset. She was recognized for continuing to raise the reputation of Haas Career Services, despite a challenging recruiting year, through new services and programs. They included creating internships throughout the university and with the school's experiential learning program, Haas@Work.
Scott also was praised for contributing to important new initiatives outside of her primary job responsibilities. In particular, her leadership was especially important in helping to shape the Haas School's Defining Principles and in implementing the Leadership Development Series, a series of workshops designed to help MBA students develop and hone their leadership skills.
A recognized leader in her field, Scott also was honored for her performance as the face of UC Berkeley to many recruiters both at Haas and elsewhere on campus as well as to the press, where she is often interviewed and quoted on job-related matters.
Scott joined the Haas School in 2000. She earned an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
