Berkeley Haas names 2025 commencement speakers

Berkeley Haas has named three alumni, including a finance and Latinx/Hispanic community leader, a pioneering online retail founder and CEO, and the vice chief of emergency services at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, as 2025 commencement speakers this spring. 

Patty Juarez, BS 94, executive vice president and head of Hispanic & Latino Affairs for Wells Fargo Bank, will be the undergraduate speaker; Manish Chandra, EWMBA 95, founder and CEO of Poshmark, will be the speaker for the combined Full-time MBA/Evening & Weekend MBA commencement; and Malini Singh, EMBA 19, Vice Chief of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Clinical Professor at UCSF School of Medicine will speak at the MBA for Executives (EMBA) Program commencement.

Undergraduate commencement ceremonies will be held at the Greek Theatre on Monday, May 19, at 9 a.m.; the FTMBA/EWMBA combined class ceremony will be Friday, May 23, at 2 p.m. The EMBA ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 7, at 3 p.m. at Hertz Hall.

Patty Juarez

Patty Juarez has spent more than 29 years at Wells Fargo, where she has held a variety of leadership roles.

As the head of Hispanic/Latino Affairs at Wells Fargo, she is responsible for building a Hispanic/Latino external engagement portfolio focused on national cultural engagement, executive recruitment, business development, and stakeholder relations. In her role, she partners with Diverse Segments Representation & Inclusion, External Engagement, and Government Relations to curate national and local stakeholder activities.

She is former chairwoman and a current board member of the Orange County Hispanic Chamber. She also serves on the board of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, and as an advisory board member for the Latino Donor Collaborative. 

Juarez also serves on the Board of Governors at Chapman University and on the Chancellor’s Council at UC Berkeley. She is involved in diversity and entrepreneurship initiatives at UC Berkeley, Stanford University, and Harvard University.

Juarez is the past president of the Hispanic & Latino Connection Employee Resource Network, which has 53 chapters and represents more than 35,000 Latinos at Wells Fargo. She lives in Orange County, California, with her children, Isabella and Max.

Manish Chandra

Manish Chandra is the founder and CEO of Poshmark, where he also serves on the company’s board of directors. As CEO, Chandra is responsible for guiding the vision, strategy, and growth of the company. 

Chandra applied more than 20 years of experience building and scaling companies to create Poshmark, a social marketplace that combines the human connection of physical shopping with the scale, reach, ease, and selection benefits of ecommerce. 

Prior to founding Poshmark in 2011, Chandra co-founded and served as CEO of Kaboodle, an online shopping website. Kaboodle was acquired by Hearst Communications in August 2007. Before Kaboodle, Chandra held executive positions at Versant, Versata (IPO 2000, acquired by Trilogy), and Sybase (IPO 1991, acquired by SAP). 

In addition to his MBA from Haas, Chandra holds an MS in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin, and a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.

Malini K. Singh

Malini K. Singh is the Vice Chief of Emergency Services at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) and a professor of Emergency Medicine at UCSF School of Medicine. 

She teaches and works clinically as an emergency physician in a major trauma center with a focus on operations, flow, and process improvement. In addition to her MD and MBA, Singh holds an MPH from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Singh credits her Berkeley Haas business education for giving her the tools to become a stronger leader, enabling her to make a greater impact in her role by improving patient care, public education, and community outreach. 

Singh has received a number of awards, including an Exceptional Physician Award in 2023 from UCSF. She also received the Heroes and Hearts Award from the ZSFG Foundation in 2022 for her work connecting with patients and combating medical misinformation. During the pandemic, Singh established the “We are You” public education campaign that addressed COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in the most vulnerable communities.
