The Berkeley Energy and Resources Collaborative (BERC)–a multidisciplinary group connecting students from many units on campus–will celebrate its fifth anniversary and honor alumnus Will Coleman, MBA 06, at its first-ever Fall Gala on Oct. 28 at the Hotel Shattuck Plaza in Berkeley.
The group will present its first annual BERC Leadership Award to Coleman at the event, which will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Coleman, a co-founder of BERC, now works as a partner focusing on clean-tech investments at the venture capital firm Mohr-Davidow.
While at Haas, Coleman realized that students scattered throughout Cal's business, law, public policy, and science programs had a mutual interest in renewable energy, but it was hard to get them together.
"Energy is a truly interdisciplinary space–even if you are on the business side you have to understand the technology and the policy," Coleman said in a fall 2008 CalBusiness article about green energy activities at Haas. "We really wanted to figure out a way to connect all these incredibly talented people across the campus."
The BERC Fall Gala will bring not only students together but also representatives from industry, alumni, and faculty. For more information about the event, email [email protected] or visit berc.berkeley.edu/fall-gala.
