Students to Take the Stage in Talent Show, May 5

Forget PowerPoint presentations and team projects. Berkeley MBA students will sing opera, shake their booties to Bollywood beats, and perform in a violin quartet. Not to mention whipping out an electric guitar and pounding the drums to play some good old-fashioned rock 'n roll–all for the Haas Talent Show from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. May 5 at the International House.

The third annual Haas Talent Show is the creation of mostly first- and second-year Berkeley MBA students, who view the event as a way to give Haas students an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents in an environment where they usually can’t.

“The cool thing is that you find out there are so many people in your class who have artistic talent,” says co-organizer Jason Dolan, MBA 11. “Haas has a creative MBA community. It’s got that entrepreneurial spirit.”

Dolan’s talent show team includes Bruce Dos Santos, Bradley Okamoto, and Sean Wu, all MBA 12; and Miguel Martinez, MBA 11.

Last year, the event drew about 250 guests and 50 acts, including Dean Rich Lyons, who delighted the crowd with his acoustic guitar and will return this year.
