Former Visa President to Keynote MBA CareerFest

Hans Morris, president of Visa Inc. from 2007 to 2009, will present the keynote address at the MBA Career Services 2010 Winter CareerFest at the Haas School on Sunday, Jan. 10.

Drawing from his experience transitioning between a multitude of roles during a 30-year career, Morris will speak on “Success at Work,” and cover behaviors that really work in any environment, important skills managers need, and how to manage a career.

On Jan. 5 Morris announced that he is joining growth equity firm General Atlantic LLC as a special adviser. Morris will provide strategic counsel in the financial services sector to the firm and its portfolio companies, which will include First Republic Bank after General Atlantic closes on its purchase of the bank in the first half of 2010.

Morris joined Visa in 2007, as it was completing a major reorganization. During his tenure the company completed the largest IPO in US history, an offering of 51 percent of the company for $19.7 billion.

Before Visa, Morris served in a variety of roles during 27 years at Citigroup and its predecessor companies, including CFO of Citi Markets and Banking, and vice chairman, COO, and head of client management of the Investment Banking Division at Salomon Smith Barney. Morris expects to announce the next step in his career at the beginning of the new year.

CareerFest is an afternoon event for MBA students and MBA alumni that also includes a networking lunch and three back-to-back breakout sections. Confirmed breakout presenters include Alan Wang, MBA 11, of LinkedIn; Mauri Schwartz, MBA 85, founder and president of Career Insiders; and career coach Staci Collins, MBA 95.

In addition to participating in the sessions, attendees will be able to get a professional head shot at the event’s photo booth and talk with MBA Career Services staff.

CareerFest is aimed at career switchers and those looking to make the next progressive step in their careers. For more information on Winter CareerFest and other Alumni Career Services, email [email protected].
