Economist Innovation Conference Returns to Haas for Third Year, March 28

The third annual Ideas Economy: Innovation conference at Haas on March 28 will focus on stimulating economic growth. The event is organized by The Economist magazine and sponsored by the Haas School’s Center for Executive Education.

The conference will explore the role of governments, corporations, and individuals as drivers of innovation and develop prescriptions that lead to lasting progress and prosperity. The event will feature a lively examination of current political and economic policies around the world; develop an understanding of how globalization affects innovation; and discuss what individuals can do to energize their own creative and intellectual potential and develop jobs, improve earnings, and contribute to economic growth.

Speakers will include Guy Wollaert, chief innovation officer, Coca-Cola; S. Gopalakrishnan, founder and executive co-chairman, Infosys; Harvard Business School Professor Clayton Christensen; and Jeff Hammerbacher, chief scientist, Cloudera.

From Haas, professor and former Dean Laura Tyson will participate in a panel that explores how to build a culture of innovation in a world fraught with political fighting and a tendency to take the short-term view.

Members of the Haas community are eligible for discounts, and students are also encouraged to sign up for volunteer opportunities. Look for details via email about the discount code and opportunities that apply to you. The event is expected to sell out.
