Teams to Reveal Emerging Solutions at Cleantech to Market Symposium, Dec. 6 Cleantech to Market (C2M) is a quintessential Haas course: innovative, collaborative, and committed to the public interest. In the 15-week class, cross-disciplinary teams of graduate students assess the market potential of leading-edge clean technologies developed by nationally acclaimed labs associated with UC Berkeley, such as Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the Joint BioEnergy Institute, and the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society. Students Tackle Local After-School Program in Innovation Challenge MBA students in the Design and Innovation Strategy Club (DISC) at Haas, which offers opportunities to deepen classroom learning by applying lessons to real-world problems, recently tackled a new challenge: after-school programs. Alpha Public Schools, a charter management organization with middle and grade schools in East San Jose and a 500-seat high school on the way in 2015, sought DISC's help overcoming particular obstacles. Silicon Valley Immersion Yields Entrepreneurship Insights for EMBAs Students in the MBA for Executives Program gathered in classrooms at Google, Facebook, and Airbnb for intensive case study with Professor Toby Stuart and frank conversations (many off-the-record) with 28 entrepreneurs during the recent Silicon Valley Immersion Week. Wells Fargo Gives $100K to Cleantech to Market Program Cleantech to Market, an interdisciplinary program in the Haas School of Business' Energy Institute, has received a $100,000 philanthropic grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation. The grant is part of a $2 million Wells Fargo Clean Technology and Innovation program supporting technology advancements for a clean energy future. (11/13/2013)

Berkeley Entrepreneurship Week Brings Entrepreneurs, VCs to Campus, Nov. 18-22 The first Berkeley Entrepreneurship Week organized by Startup@Berkeley, an interdisciplinary club on campus, will bring nearly two dozen entrepreneurs and venture capitalists from such companies as Evernote and Sequoia Capital to campus Nov. 18 to Nov. 22 to inspire students to pursue entrepreneurial careers. MBA Student and Veteran Jonathan Lim Nominated as White House Champion of Change Jonathan Lim was more than 300 feet under the sea in a Navy submarine when he read a book on renewable energy and had an epiphany—his mission in life is to help change the world’s energy-use paradigm to create a sustainable future. Haas Hosts Third Annual Hacking Health Competition Trial Connect, a team that designed software to reduce clinical trial costs and included Haas alumni, carried home the top prize at UC Berkeley’s third annual Hacking Health competition Oct. 18 to Oct. 20.
