Team from Africa Wins Global Social Venture Competition with Anti-Malaria Soap A team from Burkina Faso that has developed a soap to fight malaria won the Global Social Venture Competition this year, becoming the first team from Africa to ever win the $25,000 Grand Prize after beating out nearly 650 teams from 37 countries. Watch YouTube Documentary on Sight-Impaired Alum's Polar Trek At the end of 2011, Alan Lock and Andrew Jensen, both MBA 11, strapped on skis and trekked 570 miles over 28 days from the Antarctic Shoreline to the South Pole. For Lock, the Polar Vision trek—now captured in a new YouTube documentary—was the culmination of a journey that began when he suddenly lost most of his eyesight to macular degeneration at the age of 23 while serving aboard a British submarine. Entrepreneur Hansoo Lee, MBA 10, Founder of Magoosh, Passes Away Alumnus and entrepreneur Hansoo Lee, MBA 10, passed away March 4 after a 15-month battle with lung cancer. A memorial for Lee was held today in San Francisco, and classmates are currently setting up an entrepreneurship fellowship in his name. (03/18/2013)

Longtime Berkeley-Haas Benefactor Tom Clausen, Former Chief of Bank of America and the World Bank, Passes Away Former Bank of America and World Bank chief A.W.
