PhD Grads Land Positions Across the Country
June 13, 2011
This year's graduating class of PhD students fanned out across the country to work at nine different universities, and two students landed jobs across the Atlantic in Europe.
Justin Tumlinson in the Business and Public Policy Group is moving the farthest away for his position with the Ifo Institute for Economic Research at the University of Munich. Also going to Europe is the Accounting Group’s Jenni Chu, who landed an assistant professor position at Cambridge. Javed Ahmed in the Finance Group is heading across the country to Washington, D.C., to work for the Federal Reserve Bank Board of Governors.
Two students, Bradyn Breon Drish in finance and Pedro Gardete in marketing, are staying close to home after landing faculty positions with the competition: the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Andres Donangelo in the Finance Group and Emily Choi in the Management of Organizations Group are taking positions at the University of Texas. Donangelo will be an assistant professor at UT Austin and Choi will be a visiting scholar at UT Dallas.
In addition, PhD graduates will join the faculty at Kellogg, Cornell, Duke, the University of Oregon, Miami International University, and the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
"I am very pleased our graduates will be joining such an impressive group of leading business schools," says Haas Professor Sunil Dutta, director of the school's PhD Program. "The superb placement record this year is reflection of the high quality of our students, faculty, and program."
