Peter Darbee, PG&E

PG&E CEO Peter Darbee will speak on climate change, innovation and technology, policy, and other energy-related issues in an interview with the Haas School's Beverly Alexander at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 31 in Andersen Auditorium.

Darbee is coming to Haas as part of the 2010 annual lecture sponsored by the Berkeley Energy and Resource Collaborative, an interdisciplinary student-run group, as its 2010 annual lecture. Darbee will answer questions from the audience following his interview with Alexander, who is a former PG&E vice president and currently serves as co-director of the Cleantech to Market Program at the Energy Institute at Haas.

Light refreshments will be served before the lecture begins. Seating is limited and registration is required.

Since becoming CEO in 2005, Darbee has spearheaded major new initiatives to establish PG&E as an industry front-runner in customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and environmental leadership.

Darbee joined PG&E in 1999 as senior vice president and chief financial officer. In that role, he led the design and execution of PG&E’s financial restructuring after the California energy crisis. Before joining PG&E, he was vice president and CFO of Advanced Fibre Communications Inc. Previously, he was CFO and controller at Pacific Bell and vice president and co-head of Goldman Sachs’ energy and telecommunications group.

Darbee also currently serves on the Edison Electric Institute Executive Committee, co-chairs the EEI Committee on the Environment, and is on the CEO board of the Clean Energy Group.

Darbee earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business. He has also successfully completed the Nuclear Reactor Technology Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
