Participate in Two Challenge for Charity Events in April
March 19, 2012
Organizers of Haas Challenge for Charity (C4C) are hosting two events in April to help raise money for the Special Olympics and support a homeless program in Alameda. Staff, faculty, and students are invited to participate.
With a Hollywood theme, the annual Haas C4C Auction will roll out the red carpet for attendees at 7 p.m. April 5 at the Berkeley City Club. Some hot-ticket items that will be up for auction include dinner with various faculty members, ski lessons, Adobe software, and a Pebble Beach golf retreat. The event will feature live jazz from the UC Berkeley School of Music.
“We are thrilled to have a lot more alumni and faculty participating in this year's auction," says Moritz Plischke, MBA 12. "It's wonderful to involve so much of the Haas community."
Two days after the auction, on Saturday, April 7, C4C organizers will host Haas Community Day at the Alameda Point Collaborative, a nonprofit dedicated to helping the homeless, where volunteers can work in the residential farm and nursery or help to build some housing projects.
In support of Haas Challenge 4 Charity’s goal to make community day the largest Haas-wide volunteer day of the year, Engage@Haas is inviting all staff members to gather their family and friends out to Alameda Point Collaborative. There will be two shifts available: 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Between noon and 1 p.m., there will be a community BBQ for all volunteers and the Alameda Point Collaborative community.
The MBA Challenge for Charity is a nonprofit organization that draws on the talents, energy, and resources of MBA students from nine West Coast business schools to support Special Olympics, Boys and Girls Clubs, and other family-related local charities and to develop business leaders with a lifelong commitment to community involvement and social responsibility. Since 1996, C4C has contributed over $4.6 million for Special Olympics and other local charities, and donated tens of thousands of hours of community service.
