Panel to Explore Quantitative Finance Careers, Feb. 23

A diverse group of speakers will share their personal views on the world of quantitative finance in a panel discussion titled "How I Became a Quant" on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the Arthur Andersen Auditorium and is open to the public. A reception for students and panelists in the Bank of America Forum will follow the panel discussion, which is hosted by the Haas School's Master of Financial Engineering Program and presented by the International Association of Financial Engineers.

Benn Eifert, a PhD candidate in Economics at Berkeley, will moderate the panel. Panelists will include Karim Khiar, director of investment risk at BlackRock; Bob Meade, managing director at Ronin Capital; and Ian Swanson, MFE 10.

The panel discussion is designed for students interested in careers in quantitative finance, a field that has emerged with the rapid increase in computational and quantitative techniques employed in financial firms. The event also is a networking opportunity for students and alumni.
