Henry Chesbrough, PhD 97, a Haas adjunct professor and executive director of the Garwood Center for Corporate Innovation, is blogging on Forbes.com to share concise insights on a regular basis and to provide examples of how to apply his open innovation ideas in business practice.

“What readers should expect from my blog is explanations of open innovation, extensions of that core concept, and many applications and examples,” says Chesbrough. “Often, seeing how a company is using open innovation can unlock someone’s imagination and point the way to how they might use it themselves.”

Chesbrough promises to use a minimum of academic jargon in his Forbes blog and hopes readers will comment and begin a dialogue about open innovation’s potential in their own environments. Chesbrough's latest book on innovation, called Open Services Innovation (Jossey-Bass), was published in January.

“My target audience is really the busy manager who nonetheless makes time to seek out ideas and advice on his or her business,” says Chesbrough. “They often are starved for time, so an entire book is hard for them to take on. But if smaller nuggets get their interest, then maybe they’ll tackle the whole book on a future business trip. ”
