McKinsey Global Managing Director Dominic Barton to Speak, Oct. 30

Dominic Barton, global managing director of McKinsey and Co. and former chairman of McKinsey in Asia, will speak to the Haas community at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 30 in the Wells Fargo Room.

Barton has worked as a consultant with McKinsey for 24 years. His core area of work focuses on financial-sector development and reform, but he has advised clients in a range of industries, including banking, consumer goods, and high-tech.

An expert on China, Barton previously worked as McKinsey’s chairman in Asia based in Shanghai from 2004 to 2009 and led McKinsey's office in Korea from 2000 to 2004. A prolific writer, he most recently wrote China Vignettes: An Inside Look at China (Talisman, 2007) and is the co-author of Dangerous Markets: Managing in Financial Crises (Wiley & Sons, 2002).

Barton was awarded the Magnolia Gold Prize by the Shanghai government in 2009 for his outstanding contributions to the city’s development, and he has been named in the National Association of Corporate Directors' list of 100 most influential people in corporate governance.
