Marketing Expert David Aaker to Talk on Brands in Japan, April 14

Marketing Professor Emeritus David Aaker will return to the Haas School April 14 to give a talk titled "Tracking Brands in Japan-Learnings" as part of the annual David Aaker Distinguished Lecture Series in Marketing.

The lecture will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Wells Fargo Room. Pre-registration is required at http://register.haas.berkeley.edu/DavidAaker/DavidAaker.aspx.

“Ten years of tracking over 1,000 brands in Japan provides some remarkable learnings about the persistence of strong brands," says Aaker, the E.T. Grether Professor Emeritus of Marketing and Public Policy. Aaker has identified eight reasons that explain the persistence of brand strength among the top brands in Japan, which include Disney, Panasonic, Sony, and Toyota.

Recognized as one of the field's top marketing strategists, Aaker is the author of 15 books, including Spanning Silos (2008), Brand Portfolio Strategy (2004), and From Fargo to the World of Brands (2006). He authored Brand Leadership (2000), a book that has been translated into 13 languages and explained the widely used Aaker Brand Identity model. Aaker is vice chairman of Prophet, a global consultancy firm headed by Michael Dunn, MBA/MA 04 (Asian Studies).

The David Aaker Distinguished Lecture Series in Marketing is co-sponsored by the Dean’s Speaker Series, the MBA Marketing Club, and the Undergraduate Marketing Club. A light lunch will be served at the event.
