Dean’s Speaker Series Panel to Address Income Inequality in the 21st Century

A Dean’s Speaker Series panel to be held at Haas Oct. 14 will focus on income inequality, drawing from ideas central to UC Berkeley Economics Professor Emmanuel Saez’s research and Thomas Piketty's bestselling book Capital in the Twenty-First Century.

Participating in the panel Income Inequality in the 21st Century will be Saez and Laura Tyson, professor of business administration and economics at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. Tyson, chairwoman of the Council of Economic Advisors under President Bill Clinton, has for years championed policies that address income inequality.

The panel, to be moderated by Dean Lyons, will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Wells Fargo room. Registration is required.

Both Piketty and Saez, head of the Center for Equitable Growth at UC Berkeley, have received international recognition for documenting the rise of income and wealth inequality worldwide.

The panel will open with Saez and Tyson discussing topics presented by Lyons, followed by his questions. A Q&A session with the audience will follow.

The Dean's Speaker Series brings to Haas distinguished individuals who are leaders of business and other organizations.
