Haas to Host Economist’s Second Innovation Conference, March 23-24

The Haas School will host the second annual Ideas Economy: Innovation conference on March 23 and March 24, focused on entrepreneurship in a disruptive world. The event is organized by The Economist magazine and sponsored by the Haas School’s Center for Executive Education.

Dean Rich Lyons and Adjunct Professor Henry Chesbrough, author of the new book Open Services Innovation, will be among the speakers. Additional speakers include Elon Musk, CEO and founder of Tesla Motors and SpaceX; 3M CEO George W. Buckley; Ravi Venkatesan, chairman of Microsoft India; and many others.

Last year, The Economist’s Ideas Economy series kicked off with the initial innovation conference at the Haas School. A New York event on human potential followed last fall and another will follow on infrastructure next month.

“Being the only West Coast host of this thought-provoking series of events brings great visibility to our school and is a perfect match for our strategic priorities,” says Assistant Dean for Executive Learning Whitney Hischier. “It helps tell our story as being on the leading edge of innovative thinking in business education."

Content will focus on how the shift of innovation to the developing world forces companies to function in a climate of constant disruption. Participants at this event will examine how the very meaning of innovation is changing, and why it matters today more than ever.

Members of the Haas community are eligible for discounts, and students are encouraged to sign up for volunteer opportunities. Look for details via email on the discount code and opportunities that apply to you. The event is expected to sell out.
