Conference to Shine Spotlight on Latin America, Feb. 25

With a focus on innovation, the second annual Latin America and Hispanic Business Association Conference, starting at noon on Feb. 25 in the Wells Fargo Room, will feature an impressive lineup of business leaders.

“The whole idea is to get people who are interested in Latin American and Hispanic markets to broaden their knowledge in the subject matter," says Fernanda Fenton, MBA 11, who is originally from Mexico and is co-chairing the conference with Alvaro Koechlin, also MBA 11. "We tried to bring in political and business leaders to share their experiences."

Invited speakers include :

  • Mario Bergara, PhD 98 (Econ.), president of Uruguay’s Central Bank
  • Frank Baxter, BA 61, former U.S. ambassador to Uruguay, chairman emeritus at Jefferies & Company, and a UC Berkeley Foundation trustee

The organizers also are bringing in venture capital experts and executives from companies such as Gerbera Capital, Austral Capital, TECHBA Silicon Valley, and Sony to talk about opportunities in Latin America or with Latin American consumers.

Fenton is hoping this year’s event will be as, or even more, successful that last year’s conference, which attracted 150 attendees.

Tickets for the conference will be available soon at lahbaconference.com. For more information, contact Fernanda Fenton at [email protected] or Alvaro Koechlin at [email protected].
