Asia Business Conference at Haas to Focus on Rising Consumption, Feature Adobe CEO

"Growing Market, Growing Needs" is the theme of the 11th annual MBA-student organized Berkeley Asia Business Conference, to be held April 2 at the Haas School. It will explore different dimensions of rising consumption in the region, including macroeconomic trends and the talent gap in Asia.

The event, the largest Asia-focused, student-organized conference on the West Coast, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The conference sold out last year with more than 580 attendees.

Haas alumnus Shantanu Narayen, MBA 93, president and CEO of Abobe Systems, will be a featured keynote at the event. Keynote speeches also will be given by UC Berkeley alumnus Steven Chan, president of solar company Suntech America, and Peter Schwartz, co-founder and chairman of Global Business Network and a partner of the Monitor Group. Haas Professor and former Dean Laura Tyson and Dean Rich Lyons will give remarks.

The conference will explore developing countries in addition to China and India that are experiencing hyper-growth, including Korea, Thailand, and Indonesia, according to conference co-chairs Eric Flohr, Li-Chien Chen, and Siong Ang, all MBA 11.

In addition, the conference will feature in-depth industry break-out panels on topics such as clean tech and health care, as well as networking sessions with venture capitalists and career experts.

This conference is unrelated to the Berkeley Asia Business Center Conference in Shanghai, China, on March 22.
